The tech industry has and continues to develop astonishingly powerful invasive capacity driven by the desires of the end user/data mining industry over members of society at large--especially but not exclusive to women, children, and minority communities. We as a society must recognize the human rights of individuals affected by invasive technologies. I challenge the tech industry to develop a uniform and transparent standard of privacy, security and human rights protection as integral to the product development cycle. Accountability for safe design/manufacture is fundamental to consumer protection--protection that extends beyond the buyer and user, but to the public at large. It's glaringly absent from the technology industry, and we witness on a daily basis the often lethal consequences of that failure. Let's fix this.
