From Alexander Howard
As mobile and social technologies collapse the remaining distinctions between our online and offline identities, security and privacy are not in opposition: they are necessary to preserve one another. We need to build privacy into systems and infrastructure by design and create encryption that is as easy to use as sliding open your smartphone. These approaches will be crucial to the next billion people who are coming online, many of whom may have no other option than to log on to a limited set of "zero-rated" services through Internet.org or similar approaches. Providing these users with other options to log on to the full World Wide Web through libraries and schools will be critical to ensuring equal access to the world's knowledge, as will providing people with the literacies required to make the most of it, but it won't be free.
