As a next generation, online civil rights organization born out of a single email to just 1,000 people, ColorOfChange.org understands the power of technology to amplify the voices of marginalized communities, leverage systemic change, and strengthen our democracy. However, technology exploited for the purpose of unchecked surveillance could have a crippling effect on any movement for social justice. Our ability to be heard, counted, and visible in a 21st century global economy and increasingly connected world depends not just on our ability to access, but our ability to have an unfiltered voice -- powerful enough to hold government and institutions accountable.
